Youth Services News FW: Asking for Donations for Prizes

  Hi Ivy,
To address your actual question, no I have never asked the local chain
stores for donations.
So this might just be a good to know thing, but...
However, our Pizza Hut got us hooked up with with First Book. Folks can
donate through Pizza Hut to donate to the library. I don't think Pizza Hut
advertises all of the time to donate to the library, but it was a feature
during the winter. This is our first year with it.
But we did have a gift certificate for signing up or something for about
$200. Their website has lots of books and school and hygiene essentials and
all kinds of stuff. I used the gift certificate to buy extra books to give
away this summer and was surprised to get such good quality and variety. We
bought from the Scholastic Literacy Initiative which is great but it's just
the same books all the time. First Book had really nice hardback editions
for just a couple of dollars.
