Nadine, we stopped quarantining borrowed materials quite some time ago, but
our book covers are wiped down between uses (and the entire book if it is a
board book that can stand up to that). The wipe-down was a practice we had
in place prior to the pandemic. However, we are taking more time over
cleaning toys, LEGOs, puzzles, and games we use during children's programs.
We used to just clean primarily the toddler/baby toys, but now we use
Vindicator disinfectant spray on all of the shared items. The spray needs
to air dry rather that be wiped down, so it does save some staff effort.
Typically, staff will spread used toys on a 6-foot table in the processing
room and spray down; After it's dry, the toys are turned over so the other
side can be sprayed. After that, the staff member usually puts the items
back in their basket with a sticky note to indicate they are cleaned, and
then the items are put away until the next use.
Hope that helps, Nadine!
