Youth Services News [EXTERNAL] Re: [EXT] DVD storage

All ours are on display with discs in cases. We have organized the library so that most popular ones are closest to the circulation desk and the really popular/new ones are behind the desk.

Ours are empty cases on display, and discs in CD jewel cases behind the circulation desk. We have 2865 discs at this time, and use a numbering system to file them just like Los Lunas library. The jewel cases take up a wall about 4 feet high and 15 feet long.

Our DVDs and CDs are on the shelves just like books.  The discs are in the cases.  We use programmable security tags (stingrays) to help deter theft.  Though, of course, it does happen.

All of our DVDs are in lock boxes and on the shelves in our media department.  They are unlocked once they are checked out.

We are wondering how other Libraries store their DVD's? Right now we have the DVD cases on the shelves for patrons to browse thru and the discs behind the front counter in sleeves in a filing cabinet. How does your library store and display DVD's?
