Hello, all. I was wondering if the school kids in my city would have to
attend school during the summer to make up for lost hours due to the 3-week
school closure. That would push our summer reading program start date until
late June! However, according to the Carlsbad school district's Facebook
page*, the PED will waive the requirement for instructional hours.* Here is
the announcement that was posted:

Parents and Guardians
We would like to share information provided during the Governor’s press
conference this morning.
The Public Education Department will waive its instructional hours
requirement so that school days missed during the coming three weeks of
state mandated closure will not need to be made up this summer. Anybody
with a health related question should call 1-855-600-3453. Health care
experts will be available to answer concerns. Anyone with questions related
to child care or family support should call 1-833-551-0518.
