For our local Walmart, I write a simple letter on our letrerhead explaining the program and what we need funds for, and take it to the customer service desk. They keep a file and go through it once a month. I usually have to check in, because they 'forget' to call. You can request once a quarter.

Subject: Youth Services News FW: Asking for Donations for Prizes

Forwarded on behalf of Ivy Stover, please respond either to her (address in her signature) or to the whole listserv:

I don’t know if you have any experience with this, but my Mayor keeps suggesting that I ask the local dollar store and Walmart to donate prizes for Summer Reading. But I’ve never done that before, so I don’t know how to go about it. Do I just call them or send an email? Visit in person? Just any suggestions you have about it would be really helpful.

Thank you!
