Youth Services News Summer reading

Kids blow through the reading logs pretty quick. So nothing too big. I have
a treasure box that has ready to go bags with 2 things in them.
We also have a rewards card for kids when they bring their books back on
time, they get a stamp. 5 stamps= treasure box! We have little bags of a
book and a toy. I try to mix up the toys so right now it is a foam ball, a
bendy cowboy, or an airplane. I think I got all of those off Oriental
Trading.
I have another spot for older kids and they get to pick out a book and
something out of the box. The box has bouncy balls, a coloring journal, and
some other stuff from the previous years' CSLP themes.
I got the books from Scholastic Literary Initiative.
Things I've had before were lots of bouncy balls!!!, small stuffed animals,
fun crayons, make your own crowns which I'd cut out of foam sheets and had
some stick on gems to go with it, pencils.
This year we are going to have a list similar to the reading bingo and
reading game but just all combined which the kids have to complete to get a
prize that is about $10 like some legos or easy STEAM kits. This will be
for the kids who participate in the library program. We have limited space
so the kids have to be registered.
