Americans and the Holocaust Traveling Exhibition
Applications close October 14, 2023

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) and the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office present Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans' responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.

Following a highly successful tour to 50 libraries<https://www.ala.org/tools/programming/USHolocaustMuseum/tourschedule> from 2021 to 2023, the exhibition will now be available to 50 additional public and academic (i.e., college and university) libraries from 2024 to 2026.

Libraries in communities with a demonstrated interest in and need for quality Holocaust education are especially encouraged to apply. Read the project guidelines<https://www.ala.org/tools/programming/USHolocaustMuseum/guidelines> and apply online<https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=AMALA> by October 14, 2023.

Selected libraries will receive:

  *   The 1,100-square-foot exhibition on loan for five to six weeks;
  *   A $3,000 allowance to support public programs;
  * Expenses paid for a library staff member to attend an orientation workshop (May 15-16, 2024 ) at the Museum in Washington, D.C.; and
  * Publicity materials, programming resources, ongoing support from the Museum and the ALA, and more.

Thinking Money or Kids Program Kits
Applications close September 8, 2023 (quick application!)

ALA and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation invite public libraries to apply for a Thinking Money for Kids Program Kit<https://www.ala.org/tools/programming/thinking-money-kids/programkit>, a collection of expertly vetted programming resources to help libraries offer financial education for children ages 3 to 12, both in the library and in children's homes.

All public libraries, including tribal and state libraries, in the U.S. and U.S. territories are encouraged to apply. The brief application can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Visit the project guidelines<https://www.ala.org/tools/programming/thinking-money-kids/programkit/guidelines> and apply online<https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=AMALA> by September 8, 2023. Approximately 200 public libraries will be selected.

Selected libraries will receive:

  * All materials needed to host five different in-person children's programs - such as ready-to-use games, props and other physical materials - for children ages 3 to 12.
  * A set of Playaway Launchpad tablets (no internet connection required) pre-loaded with digital content that aligns with the in-person program offerings that will be available for families to check out and use at home.
  * Program instructions, talking points, related book lists and other resources to assist library workers in planning and hosting the in-person programs.
  * Template promotional materials and digital graphics to assist library workers with marketing the programs and Launchpad tablets to the public.
  * Access to virtual training and a community of practice.
The estimated value of each kit is $2,000. Libraries will keep all kit contents, including the Launchpads, after the grant period is completed.
