In just a couple weeks, we are having a "Roadshow" - a group of people who will be traveling to five sites across the state for a week. Each site will have a 2-hour community-based information session at a local college about the offerings of Adult Education and particularly about the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). This program is an alternative to the GED and HiSET tests and now authorized in the State of New Mexico - it's competency-based (instead of standardized test-based) and allows clients to earn an "adult diploma" which in some contexts is a little different than a high school equivalency like the GED or HiSET will allow them to earn. It's a good opportunity for many, and we have an online hub that allows people to work toward this degree without leaving their homes... or their library, where they have internet access. And it's all completely free to students and to the institutions that provide support to these clients (and this can include libraries).

I'd really like to invite library staff in each of these communities to these events, and I'd also like to ask that the flyers be made available in libraries for patrons who may be interested. I figure that the library staff may also know the staff of local literacy volunteers who would be interested in attending to learn more and also who have access to the populations who would most benefit from the NEDP.

Warmly,
Amber
