Weaving Colors is excited to kick off the new fiscal year with a brand new presentation by Dr. Joshua Allison-Burbank!
The Autism Programs at the UNM Center for Development & Disability currently offers presentations for Native American families. The series, “Weaving Colors” will be presented the third Wednesday of each month from 1:00-2:30 pm (MT) in webinar format. Every month, a new topic will be presented to families over the internet using zoom. This free webinar series will offer an opportunity for participants to engage and discuss the topic, as well as connect with other Native families.
**The Weaving Colors training series is open to everyone and offers ASL interpretation**
Wednesday, August 16th and September 20th 2023 from 1:00-2:30 pm (MT)
Title of Session: Honoring Indigenous Knowledge of Neurodevelopment and Childrearing
Presented by: Dr. Joshua Allison-Burbank, PhD, CCC-SLP
This two-part presentation will explore neurodevelopment and child development from an Indigenous lens. Cultural attitudes towards disability will be discussed and methods for improving Indigenous connectedness during interventions will be highlighted.
