Location: The UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, STUDENT UNION BUILDING, BALLROOM A

Keynote: Trisha Moquino, Keres Children’s Learning Center (KCLC). Moquino (Cochiti, Ohkay Owhingeh, kewa) is the co-founder of KCLC, a Keres immersion early childhood classroom using Montessori pedagogy that includes a Montessori dual-language elementary classroom.

First Session: Anti-Racism, Pedagogy, and Indigenous Peoples of NM

Developed by:  Dr.Terri Flowerday, Dr. Natalie Martinez, Dr. Glenabah Martinez



Learning outcomes: By the end of the session, participants will have learned how racial micro­ and macro-aggressions are present in curriculum, instruction, and policy. As well as learn about the importance of macro-affirmations and implications for anti-racist pedagogy.

Second Session: What are the linguistic landscape and its importance for New Mexico Native American students?

Developed by: Dr. Christine Sims, Dr. Tiffany S. Lee



Learning outcomes: In this interactive session, you will gain an understanding of the historical linguistic context and current changes affecting NM Indigenous language communities. The session will provide the opportunity to examine the implications for support of Native language initiatives.
