About InterAgencyCouncil

INTERAGENCY COUNCIL
Las Cruces and Doña Ana County New Mexico
August 2010

The Interagency Council is an informal group of social service providers (nonprofits, government agencies, etc.) that meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Housing Authority Conference Room (926 S. San Pedro –just west of Munson Senior Center). Everyone is welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. Cookies, or some other kind of snack, are provided.

Functioning since 2004, the Interagency Council is both a networking organization and a clearinghouse for distributing community information. The group is managed by Christina Little, who helped put together First Call for Help: A Community Resource Directory produced in 2002).

Anyone in the community is welcomed to participate in the Interagency Council. There is NO cost. It is not necessary to RSVP. People show up when their schedule permits.

At the Interagency Council, all attendees are given an opportunity to make announcements about their particular agency. One organization is highlighted and makes a formal presentation about the services and programs they provide. Minutes are taken and are distributed to the list via email.

There is also a moderated listserv (handled by Christina Little) which reaches 300+ individuals. Messages come from diverse sources and can include anything of interest (ranging from the need for towels at the Community of Hope, to a fundraisers, to cooking classes offered for free to diabetics and their families by the DAC Extension Service, to notices about special workshops, to information about grant opportunities, to public service announcements from the city, county, and state).

To subscribe to the list or to send a message for distribution, contact Christina Little at cslittle@zianet.com.
