I’m in every day to obsessively read the news and library updates. I’m updating our website as new info comes in. I’m also slowly doing some cataloging of the bunch of stuff that came in right before we shut our doors. And of course, working on orders for when we reopen, depending on when that is.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>My Assistant Director/Children’s Librarian was scheduled for vacation before this (yay! A week in AZ… home with the family all in the same house) and will probably return next week to work on programming, find resources for home parents and start planning for summer. The very part time aide is cleaning DVDs to an inch of their lives and other projects.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>I have a few volunteers who are sufficiently healthy and stir-crazy and I’ve been letting a couple in at a time to work on fixing cataloging problems, cleaning items (the Legos probably haven’t been this clean forever) and other things as they are willing.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>I’m also starting work on our 2018 GO Bond as the 2016 might have finally been released by the County.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>AND I’m wondering if this will be the thing that pushes us over into having digital materials in our collection. Given the age of our population, our proximity to Santa Fe and our limited collection budget combined with the continues popularity of our print collection, it hasn’t been an issue. But I’m wondering if this will be the thing that kills print. Or deals it a substantial wound. What are the average costs for libraries out there with e-collections? Currently they are housed in some magazine displays, face-out. That's nice to show the covers, but each shelf is only a few inches deep, which means that everything is kind of stuffed in and looks crowded.
