<div dir="ltr">The City of Gallup has closed the libraries and recreation buildings effective immediately as of 3/13/20. <p>We've been sanatizing, wiping books and dvds down. On Tuesday all of our City building will be closed until further notice, we'll most likely open again sometime in April. Due to this closure we won't have any programs, however we will be here to answer
questions. They'll be something about it on our Facebook later today. </p>

<div>We had a firm called GermBlast come in and test our library for bacteria. The front desk/checkout & children's computer mouses and keyboards tested off the chart for bacteria. We've scheduled them to come in today and treat most of the
areas of the library. The Jal Public Schools were recently treated by GermBlast, and our City Hall and Jal Clinic will be treated today in addition to the library. We are doing the normal precautionary things like using a disinfectant spray often, using disinfectant
wipes for the mouses and keyboards and countertops, and encouraging the use of the hand sanitizing station located at the circulation desk. Our schools are closed until April 6th, but the library remains open.<br>

Hi, Deanne. I just want to reach out and start a conversation about how libraries are approaching cautionary measures from corona virus.<br>
Libraries as we know are touchy feely places with all our check out resources that pass from hand to hand and home to home. Additionally our library has a lot of options for kiddos. We have toys, building blocks etc. I am mostly just wondering if we can exchange
some strategies for decreasing vulnerability to this new virus.<br>

Here are some things I've been doing:<br>
<br>
Cleaning the toys<br>
whipping down kids computers<br>
putting up a few signs to encourage parents to encourage kids to wash hands before and after library use<br>
<br>
I don't mean to be paranoid, but its pretty clear to see that libraries and children's sections are high use and the type of environment worthy of concern.<br>
<br>
Anyway, I'd love to hear about what other precautions are being taken at libraries.<br>
