<div dir="ltr">Deanne, as someone who moved south from Minnesota back in 1984, I understand that cold weather can really be a challenge!<div><br></div><div>Some of my best winter memories and favorites are getting ready for Christmas! I love all the special music and decorations that go up during the advent season at church, and I love getting out my own favorite decorations at home. My husband and I still have decorations from when we first got married, so it's a trip down memory lane each December. I enjoy hosting a children's crafting party every year at this time at the library, and it's always very fun! I love reading, snuggling with my dogs on the couch, candles and fires in the fireplace and the excellent sleeping weather (I always sleep better when it's a little cold than when it's too warm). Henrietta's First Winter, hot chocolate, snow ice cream, great big fluffy soft socks warm sweaters cargo pants with a good book and a snowy day, the rainbow prism sunlight sparkles on snow, run outside in freezing cold turn on your car run back inside wait 20 minutes and go back out to a nice cozy car, the smell of hot homemade soup simmering while the weather is blustery and cold outside, I'm so glad I paid the gas bill, snow day / no school / sometimes no work, looking cute in a new winter outfit, etc etc <br>

There is nothing quite like walking outside into the crisp morning to breathe in the cold air and greet the day however briefly. The smell of cedar burning in the fireplaces around the Pueblo tinges the air with the scent of home and mixes with the plumes of my breath as I pray. Having started the day I sit by the window with a hot cup of coffee enjoying the quiet before the kids wake and feel thankful to have the blessings of a loving family and a warm home.<br>
