This isn't ringing any bells with me, does it sound familiar to you?

"Hi, I had a random question about finding a book I can’t remember the title or author of. It’s a real long shot as it was a book I read years ago in school and I can barely remember any details. I’ve tried googling and asking other reader friends to try to figure it out but no one seems to remember. I don’t think I have enough details but here goes! All I can really remember is it was a Middle Grade or Young Adult book about a young girl. She has a horse named Apple and she joins some type of war or just dangerous journey and ends up fighting enemies while hanging off the side of her horse and doing some impressive riding.
I loved it as a young reader and I don’t think I ever got to finish it. I randomly think about it and it bothers me that I can’t remember the author or title to look it up again. It would’ve been roughly the early 2000’s.
If you can think of what book that might be or leads in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated to solve the years-long mystery!"
