Hi Youth Services Folks!

We had our first two workshops this week and there were some great discussions!  Much thanks again to Estancia Public Library and Grants Public Library for hosting!  I look forward to seeing more folks at the Silver City, Roswell, and Santa Fe workshops.

A few Quick Note and Links:


  *   CSLP Voucher - If your library qualified for a CSLP Voucher, the deadline to redeem is today, November 18.  Make sure you are only ordering LSTA-allowable items with your voucher.

  *   November Newsletter Book Giveaway winners:  Congratulations to Collista Jensen from Lordsburg-Hidalgo Library for winning the winter-themed book pack, and to Nadine Jiron from Grants Public Library for winning the Christmas-themed book pack!  Be sure to always check the newsletter for the book giveaway!

Cultivating Affirmation and Belonging for LGBTQIA+ Youth, with the Kaleidoscope Youth Center, brought to you by CSLP’s Inclusion Committee. Examine statistics related to discrimination within libraries/schools and risks that LGBTQIA+ youth face on a day-to-day basis in their communities, then discuss ways that library professionals can improve the general climate of libraries and summer reading programs through various strategies from simple word choice to organizational policy change. An interactive safe space for all of your questions will be moderated by a CSLP Inclusion Committee member following the presentation portion. Digital resource handouts will be provided. Outcomes: Participants will learn about implicit bias, the complexity and depth of gender, and explanation of acronyms. Participants will be given strategies to create a welcoming environment in their Library and their Library’s summer reading program for LGBTQIA+ youth.
