Good afternoon Youth Services Staff!
It's that time of the year when I need suggestions from YOU for upcoming CSLP programs. I will compile all of your ideas and submit them on behalf of New Mexico. The theme/slogan committee will then take all of the suggestions nationwide and narrow them down to a manageable number and then will hold listening/wordsmithing sessions for members (that's all of you!!) to attend in the next couple of months, then the shortened list will go for Spanish translations and to the lawyer for trademark infringement and then a vote by State Reps in the fall. CSLP is looking for a slogan for 2024 for the theme of "ADVENTURE" with artwork by Juana Martinez-Neal and a theme for 2025. Now, some things to consider before you start suggesting:
* This is a national program so things specific to New Mexico will not work even though I think they're awesome, this will be in libraries in every state as well as the island territories.
* A slogan is: a short and striking or memorable phrase that promotes libraries, summer programming, and CSLP
* Past examples of slogans are Tails and Tales, Imagine Your Story, A Universe of Stories
* A theme is: a single concept described in one or two words
* Past examples of themes are animals, fairytales, space
* A theme is broad and the slogan helps narrow it down.
* The slogan must be appropriate for all ages (early literacy to adults) and should be translatable to Spanish
You can fill out the Form I've created now but our last Youth Services Zoom on 3/30 will be a dedicated listening session to discuss pros and cons and ideas for slogans and themes! I'm one of those people that likes to think on things and then listen to what others have to say and that usually sparks ideas for me so I would wait to fill out the Form until after the listening session but it's up to you what you would like to do. You could even fill it out before AND after the listening session if you'd like! The link is: https://forms.gle/8Z86Efb8AHmYcY1NA.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, thoughts, anything! And I hope to see lots of you in the listening session on the 30th!
