Youth Services News Fall Programming

Stephanie, I fully agree about virtual program burnout. Not only was it
frustrating to have no in-person feedback during the program, I had some
technical difficulties, too. When you do a virtual program, you are "on
stage" just as much as with an in-person program, but without the
encouragement of seeing smiles, hearing laughs, or having kids ask
questions. I think that could be why it feels draining. I didn't have a
partner for most of my programs, so it was just me all alone, unlike with
in-person programs, when I at least have another staff member in the room
who can help create a positive atmosphere.

It felt to me like the story room had turned into a craft kit sweatshop
where we were making kits and videos all the time. We gave away hundreds of
kits, but just a few people gave us feedback!

So far, I have not been told to avoid indoor programs but I would prefer
outdoor over virtual any day!
