Good afternoon Youth Services staff!
We had a really good Zoom this morning with some good questions about programming in the fall and if libraries are going to be open as tutoring/online learning hubs. If you'd like to respond to those, please feel free! I also shared some updates with everyone.

  * The survey on slogans for SRP 2022 and theme for SRP 2024 is up. Please let me know the slogan and theme you prefer and at the CSLP "Annual Meeting" this month, I will cast New Mexico's 3 votes per topic how you tell me to vote (2 votes to the top contender and 1 to the next vote getter). I didn't include the Spanish translations as we might be working with the translator to fix some of them- they translated word for word so the puns were lost and some don't make a whole lot of sense. Please vote by September 15th, 5 PM https://forms.gle/EBaXenvGJTuo2dKn6. I've included examples of the artist for 2022, Sophie Blackall and the artist for 2024, Juana Martinez-Neal.
  * The CSLP 2021 store is now open so please check out https://www.cslpreads.org/cslp-store/ to see all the cool goodies for next year! I LOVE all the stuff, and FYI, the hand sanitizer incentive was picked WELL before COVID was a thing, we were just ahead of the game. I hope to have all of your vouchers ready by November to purchase promotional and programmable items like bookmarks, posters, and pencils (I love the pencils so much!) so take a look and start thinking about what you'd like to purchase with your vouchers (no incentives!).
  * It's time to join a CSLP committee! The CSLP is primarily a volunteer run organization, there are 2 paid employees but pretty much is done by volunteers like me and you! We're working on a video from the committee chairs explaining the type of work that's expected and I will share that once it's available. In the meantime, if you have any questions about a committee please let me know and I will try to answer it. I started just like you all, a front line library staff member who volunteered for Vendor and now I'm running (unopposed) for Vice-President/President-Elect. Serving on a CSLP committee and having a part in moving the organization forward has been the most rewarding part of my career. And thank you to all the people currently serving, I know I've convinced a few of you to join me on Vendor and I know there's people on Statistics and Manuals and I hope you continue to serve! To see a list of all the committees and to join please visit https://www.cslpreads.org/join-a-cslp-committee/.
  * CSLP has started an official Facebook group for programming ideas for 2021- CSLP's Official Summer Library Programming Group! - 2021 Tails & Tales https://www.facebook.com/groups/cslp.planning. It's a closed group but we're adding people fairly quickly (I'm on the social media committee so I help moderate this page among others, see more volunteering options!). The posters for 2021 have been shared there and people are already brainstorming ideas for next summer.
  * I hope to have manuals out to you all by the end of this month, depending on when I get them from CSLP but I will give you all a heads up to expect them.

Okay, that was A LOT of info, I hope you all read this far! Have a great week, a great weekend, stay safe over Labor Day, remember to wear your mask, stay 6-feet apart from people and stay home! We're doing great as a state but don't want to lose the momentum we've been gaining!
