Good morning Youth Services staff,
I hope you're all doing well and staying safe during our latest stay at home order! Just a few things:

  * We have our biweekly Zoom next Tuesday at 10 and I hope to see you all there!
     *   Topic: Youth Services Zoom

  * I had hoped to have your manuals out to you all before Thanksgiving but that is not going to happen and until the stay at home order is lifted, I don't know when I'll be able to get into the office to mail them to you. I do have online access for everyone, though, even if you did request a USB. I'm more than happy to start emailing out online access codes and instructions if you'd like them. Or you can wait for your USB- either way works for me and I created a Form for you to request which version you would like right now https://forms.gle/nqzyhUav2UnQzdhH9. Please fill it out as soon as possible, I'll close it next week before the holiday.
  * There's also another Form going on right now regarding products for giveaways:
     * I just received the summary of all of your CSLP voucher orders for SRP 21 and there was a quite a bit of money left on the table. Normally I use this money to purchase items for the giveaways and that's still the plan but this year I want your input on the items that are up for giveaways. As usual, I've created a Google Form asking for your input on which items I should purchase for giveaways using the LSTA allowable items found at https://www.cslpreads.org/product-category/lsta-allowable/new-mexico/. In addition, there's a question asking what your library would purchase with an additional $20 in voucher money (using the same LSTA site). I'll pick 25 libraries that answer that question and purchase that item(s) for them (and ship when I'm allowed back in the office) https://forms.gle/fk5cq6UHS189UnoDA. I'll put all the entries into my new favorite toy- The Wheel of Names at next week's Youth Services Zoom (11/24) and call the winners (you don't have to be present to win but it'd be more fun if you were!)!
  * The CSLP Diversity and Inclusion Committee is holding a free Zoom to all members (that's you!) next month. This is a first come, first serve Zoom (they have room for 200 people) and if you can't make it or it's filled up it will be recorded and available for viewing later on.
     * Are you trying to figure out how to make your library more accessible? Do you need help planning programming for children who need adaptations to use the library or to attend an event? The Collaborative Summer Reading Program's Diversity and Inclusion committee has invited Kaitlyn Hodges (Special Needs Librarian at Virginia Beach Public Library) and Kelsey Dunckle (Librarian at Harris County Public Library) to show us some of their ideas. Free training on Zoom!

Feel free to let other librarians know about this session.

  * The CSLP Child & Well-Being Committee just released its latest resource. The one-page CSLP Summer Meals Talking Points Flyer includes brief talking points and a quick to-do checklist. It's an easy-to-digest introduction for summer meals advocates to share with coworkers, library administration, Board, community officials, and prospective partners. It's now available for download on the CSLP website. Find it on the Library and Summer Food resource list here: https://www.cslpreads.org/libraries-and-summer-food/#resource or direct download here: https://www.cslpreads.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/cslp-summer-meals-talking-points-flyer.pdf<https://www.cslpreads.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/cslp-summer-meals-talking-points-flyer.pdf> (PDF download).

That's a lot for today but it's all really good, useful stuff! As always, if you have questions or just want to reach out and chat, I'm here for you all! Please stay home if you can, wear a mask and avoid large gatherings (I know it's hard with Thanksgiving next week but it really is a life or death decision these days).
