Youth Services News FW: [EXT] Corona Virus

The Public Library Albuquerque and Benalillo County just announced cancelling all programs and meeting room use until April 15th.  I think we should encourage patrons to take social distancing seriously.  It doesn't help to cancel school if everyone just gathers at the library instead.

We are cancelling partly because of germs and partly because we expect to be busy with kids out of school, and we can't monitor both rooms at once.

Some states and even entire countries have closed all libraries. I am hoping we don't, but we should probably have plans in place for that, too.

I’m pretty sure our library will remain open for awhile. But, I’m also curious what everyone is doing about programming. I had some staff members express some concerns about continuing with story time and other kids programs while schools are closing. Is anyone canceling?
