Youth Services News Craft Kit ideas

Aaliyah Gonzales of Pueblo De San Ildefonso asked about creating craft
kits. Here is what we are doing.

Each kit has the craft patterns and supplies enough for one child to make
all the crafts for one week of our program. (We are starting with our
online storytimes & crafts next week.) We are expecting that people will
have some crafting tools such as a pair of scissors, glue, tape, and
crayons. The items we are including are patterns, color cardstock, tissue,
etc. The finished craft samples for week one are photographed below, as
well as a sample of the kit items.

We are distributing these in the summer reading bags with reading supplies,
which we had already purchased anyway from CSLP. When people request a kit,
we ask if they would like some books and movies, too, to reduce the number
of trips. We also made kits with a shaker egg and dancing kit for the
little ones so they can do Toddler Time online.

For parents with several kids, we get a kit for each kid in the family, and
attach the kits together with a twist tie. Our director created a curbside
checkout slip for us to use at this time, so we attach that to one of the
bags to identify who the items are for.
