Youth Services News Looking for an old book

A woman said she is looking for a children's book which she checked out
many times as a kid. She thinks it may have been around 1997, so published
before that date. It was not a new book at the time. She had the
recollection it was more of a picture book than a chapter book.

The book was illustrated, and it was about a person describing what a
beautiful home they lived in, with pretty windows, soft upholstery, etc.
The surprise ending is that the character walked into the home and you
realize that the character is walking on a cat's tongue into the mouth of a
cat!

I asked her if the book character was a mouse, and she wasn't sure.

Has anyone heard of this book? The patron can't recall author or title. I
have been doing some searching; apparently the last time she was able to
read it, the librarian told her the previous borrower had failed to return
the book, so she has not been able to read it since.
