Good Wednesday morning Youth Services staff!
It's been awhile since we touched base so I thought I'd give you all an update!

  *   While you're all deep in SRP 2020, my work for SRP 2021 has begun! My committee for CSLP has been busy picking t-shirt images, incentives, things like that. It makes me happy to see so many New Mexico librarians engaged in CSLP committees (but most especially mine!) and I encourage everyone to get involved, it's a collaborative after all!
  *   I've been working on a new set of workshops for staff around the state on teen services. Jessica Paschal from the Artesia Public Library and I attended a 3-day training session from YALSA in Seattle last fall on presenting these trainings to people in our state and it's time to begin sharing them out with you! I'm not sure yet which topics I'll be presenting this spring and where. That part is up to you all! I've created a Google form for you to fill out if you are interested in hosting me for one of these workshops. They may be all day, or they may be just a few hours. This training will continue for the next year on a variety of topics geared towards more effective programming for teens. More details on what's being offered and how this information is beneficial to all that work in the library and not just youth services staff will be coming in the next few weeks!
  *   I'm working on a calendar again this year, that includes SRP start and end dates as well as fun programs for as many of the libraries that I can get! This is incredibly useful information to have when VIPs decide to visit libraries for their kickoffs or when I decide to take a road trip and visit libraries! So, if you have your dates set, start sending them my way! My office is boring, your library in summer is not, so give me an excuse to visit your town this summer!
  *   It's not Spring yet and won't be for 23 more days and that makes me sad. So, I want to give something away! I was lucky enough to have lunch with author Pat Mora yesterday and she gave me a paperback edition of her book I Pledge Allegiance that is now available in Spanish, she even signed it! If you are interested in winning this book, email me something good that's recently happened or something you're looking forward to- happy news! I'll put all entries into the NPN and a random winner will receive the book. Remember to email me directly, not the whole listserv (yes, good news is for everyone but not everyone wants 20+ emails in their inbox).
