We've been using BrainFuse as part of our GED curriculum and pushing JobNow since we are working locally with NM Workforce. My staff are pretty happy with it in terms of what it can do. Haven't had any complaints.

Subject: Re: [Nmlibs] statewide database discussion
You have to remember that we also serve the academic and adult communities with the statewide databases. Worldbook tutoring covers only grades 3-12. Our biggest Brainfuse users currently are high school and college students who get assistance with the sciences such as biology and chemistry, and mathematics such as algebra or calculus. There is also the testing component of Brainfuse which is aligned with NM curriculum and standards and is very popular with the high school, college, and adult audience, as are the writing labs. The JobNow adult resume and interviewing services have not been used heavily thus far but with the current unemployment situation, I expect those services to be used more heavily in the months to come.

My youth services librarians find it more informative, user friendly, and the live homework help would be very helpful for students learning from home. I will ask for more definitive information to add to this discussion.
We have been asking our local schools if they will be purchasing it but have not received a response.
Thank you.

What are the reasons for wanting to switch? What are the benefits to switching? As a whole for the state and as far as our patrons are concerned, have you thought about the impact on libraries that want consistency? If their patrons have accounts and information saved how difficult will it be for them ? Some people like to stay with what they know. Just asking.

I am not able to join but would like to ask if we could have the state library consider using World Book online and their Live Homework help instead of BrainFuse.

Hi all,
Come join us to talk about whatever is on your mind. Every day's group is different; every day's discussion is different. Yesterday Richard Govea of the State Library's Broadband for Libraries program was in the room, and there were lots of questions about Erate, hotspot lending, etc.
What we talk about today is totally up to you.
Hope to see you soon!
Dale
