Youth Services News Special Noon Drop-in -- This Thursday

Hi Everyone,


I wanted to give you an advanced invitation to join us at noon this Thursday for a special topical Daily Drop-In for Public Librarians. Our State Librarian, Eli Guinnee, will be with us to kick off a conversation about what library policies we might want to revise as we look toward reopening.


I've copied a couple of paragraphs from the Apart Together Newsletter that he sent out this morning to give you an idea of where the discussion will start.


Many of you have turned your attention to planning for re-opening.  Not that reopening is necessarily imminent, but there's a lot to plan for:  What furniture needs to be moved to provide for social distancing?  How can computers be distributed throughout the library?  Will we re-open in stages<https://nmstatelibrary.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=60db829a53699728441a0af2b&id=9aa7276138&e=7293a0a5bc> or all at once?  Do we need a sneeze guard at the circ desk?  Should we limit the number of people in the library? What policies do we need to revise?


On Thursday, during the daily noon Drop-In <https://nmstatelibrary.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?u=60db829a53699728441a0af2b&id=167f14db32&e=7293a0a5bc> hosted by our Library Development Bureau, we'll be focusing on one piece of this: library policies.  I'll bring a list of the policies I think libraries may need to revise, and I hope you will to.  If you have time, take a look at your policies and note any that might need revision before you re-open.  Together we can hopefully come up with a pretty good list (which I'll share here next week!).


So think about what you might need or want to change when we reopen and come join us!
