Also, given your talk about pop culture, and the folklore related theme, I'm a huge advocate of the relationship between folklore and popular culture (warning: Not all folklorists feel this way). It's even something I could talk about as far as reading and stories and storytelling goes.  (I have an MA in folklore, just so you know I'm only partially making crap up).

SRP activities outside:

We've had people give talks on cactus, bird watching and bugs.

Kids could record what they see and research what they're seeing. What is this bird? E-bird books etc.

My nephew is huge into Rubics cubes.
