One of the questions I get asked most is about teen services so to help with that, the State Library is bringing in YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association), which is a branch of ALA, to do an all-day professional development workshop for library staff. The workshop will be held February 15th 9-4 (with an hour for lunch) in Albuquerque. The topic is Engaging Teens Through the Library: Libraries play a key role in supporting teen success in college, careers, and life. They achieve this by understanding teen and community needs and developing services that specifically support those needs. In this highly participatory session participants learn how to build services for and with teens in the community with a focus on social emotional learning and college career readiness. Participants will also gain skills and knowledge in building community relationships in support of teens and in articulating the value of teen services to colleagues, decision makers, community members and organizations. The workshop is FREE to attend but registration is required. To register please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YALSA. And for more information, visit The Hitchhiker! If you have any questions, please let me know and I hope to see many of you there, I think this will be a great learning opportunity!
