Mesa, AZ but was raised in another small rural community called Rock Point, AZ. Berlinda has been in Indian Education for over 27 years, but her passion is working with Navajo language and culture. Berlinda's work is focused on Indigenous language revitalization, reclamation, preservation, and advocacy for cultural identity in many facets such as culturally responsive teaching.

language and culture; “I do what I do because of my own children, my Navajo children, and for the unborn. My upbringing has a lot to do with what inspires me to do this work. of the Navajo language, the dissertation research describes how to live life that has been handed down orally through Navajo Creation Stories and other sacred teachings. This dissertation research used Indigenous research methodologies that combine autoethnography
and the decolonizing goals of the tribal critical race theory, the oral stories and teachings were used as a historical context for their importance. The dissertation research shares sacred stories and personal experience to explain how and why the Navajo
language conveys the important teaching of our ancestors in ways that are difficult if not impossible in English. </span></p>
