[Nmtriblibs] Reminder: Free Homeless Training

Hi Library Directors!

A quick reminder that the State Library provides you and your staff with free asynchronous training modules from Ryan Dowd's Homeless Training<https://my.nicheacademy.com/nmstate-staff?category=23277> (and monthly synchronous special workshops, scroll down to register for the one on April 11 at Noon).

If you or your staff try to access the modules, it will ask you for a very simple registration.  State Library staff need to approve each of these.  (During normal working hours this happens almost immediately, but on weekends and evenings there may be a delay.)

If you have not looked at it lately, please note that there is a new Core Training module, that is highly recommended.

Note: Some libraries are requiring their staff to take the Core Training-if you do so, I would be happy to run occasional reports to keep you updated on their progress, just send me a simple spreadsheet with the names and email addresses.   I know that many of you're are dealing with issues that Ryan Dowd covers, so staff training may be a good place to start!

About the Expert:

Sheri Laigle<https://www.linkedin.com/in/sheri-laigle-4b056ba2/> is the Director of Social Services at HIAS<https://hias.org/>, a Jewish humanitarian organization committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers in the Washington, DC and New York metropolitan areas.

Prior to her role at HIAS, Sheri worked as a therapist at Trauma Services, a program of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, for 17 years.  In that position, she served victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma and interpersonal or gender-based violence.

Bilingual in French and English, Sheri has worked extensively with the African immigrant population throughout her career. She was the co-founder and organizer of the African Women's Empowerment Workshop, an annual conference for African immigrant women, from 2008 to 2019.
