There has been a slight change of plans with regards to parking. We received the passes a little later than anticipated and so have decided to hand them out that morning instead of mailing them so we can ensure you will have them. On the morning of September 8, please: * Park in the G lot on the northeast corner of University and Tucker. I suggest the University entrance as it?s usually less congested. * Head to the covered bus stop island (it?s the only one) in the northeast section of the lot and look for the TLP sign. * George (super nice and probably in a red shirt) will be by the sign at the bus stop. He will have the list of attendees and will give you a parking pass. * Return to your car and hang the pass from your mirror or place it on your dash in an easily seen position. * Head back to the bus stop and take a shuttle to the ?Medical? stop. George will be available to assist with any shuttle questions. If preferred, it is about a ten minute walk to the library. I?ve attached a map of the routes from G Lot to the library. If you have an accessible parking placard you can park in any designated parking spot by the library. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you so much! As discussed, I?m sending the links to services as well as presentations. Two of the PowerPoints are attached; I?m awaiting the Medline Plus one and will send it as soon as I have it. Services and databases are as follows: https://hsc.unm.edu/hslic/ https://medlineplus.gov/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ https://unmhealth.org/services/development-disabilities/programs/other-disability-resources/information-network/library.html https://nativehealthdatabase.net/ https://hsc.unm.edu/cnah/ https://hsc.unm.edu/about/administrative-departments/community-health/programs/heros/ Also, in case anyone didn?t have the opportunity to complete the media release, I?ve attached it too. It would also be terrific if people could complete the evaluation here: https://unm-health.libwizard.com/f/tlpfieldtrip23 This is a huge help and assists with future planning. Email Title: Native American Fantasy Epic now available for Tribal High Schools and Colleges Hello, ninjit don chaa. My name is Matt Gilbert (a.k.a. Wolf Golan). I'm Gwich'in Athabascan-Alaska Native. I grew up in Arctic Village, Alaska but travelled extensively and went to college at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Ca then finished my Bachelor's Degree in English-Literature at the University of Alaska Anchorage. I have a number of books published through university presses and traditional presses at my website:Home | Matt Gilbert (mattgilbertak.wixsite.com) You can also get a brief bio on me there. Nevertheless, it is my Alaska Native/Native American Fantasy epic I am aiming to promote with you all today, the Chandera Trilogy (www.chanderatrilogy.com). You can purchase copies on a link to Amazon on the website. Quick Synopsis of the series: It's a 3-book series that follows the adventures and battles of a Native American knight stuck on a remote world with his Native American girlfriend, along with a marooned crew. They are welcomed by a medieval kingdom, where they begin repairing their ship but are in the middle of a war the kingdom wages with a dark army of thousands led by a dark lord. They find they are out of warp fuel, and the answer may be in a lost magic rock forged by their goddess in the ancient world but lost to time. Max sets out on a quest aboard an airship with the strongest knights to find the lost rock. A rock that can make their warp fuel, get them home, and also tip the scale in this war that can save this world called: Chandera. Quick background on the series This started it as a high school writing project by a H.S teacher that was big into Sci-Fi/Fantasy and lent me his books to help me with the school project. This was 1995, so it took 28 years to finish the series (One Saturn Year), but I made a website with photos from A.I. and I hope you all enjoyed them on the website. You can purchase them and kindle versions here: Chandera (3 book series) Paperback Edition (amazon.com) Please tell all tribal colleges and high schools about this book, I would appreciate it, thanks. The trilogy kicks off a 5 book series and I'm still finishing the last two now, but the trilogy is a story in itself and its finished and available now. If some of you are thinking amazon is going to get a lot of the profit, it will not. Most of the royalties come to me like 70% which is way more than if I was at a real publisher, so you're helping a Native author out. ? However, this is not about money, my main goal is to get these stories out to Indian Country because if I was starved for Native heroes as a kid in sci-fi/fantasy (which is why i wrote this), it means other Native kids are starved for them too so I hope you can help me spread this book to tribal communities, reservations, schools, neighborhoods, and homes. Thank you. If you have any questions, my email is: mattgilbert.ak at gmail.com or wolfgolan79 at outlook.com -- Matt Gilbert -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... If you/your library is interested in participating in her program, please contact Andrea directly as the first step. Thank you. Dear NM State Public Library Directors and Staff, My name is Andrea Warner, and I serve as the Outreach Coordinator for Double Up Food Bucks, a program operated by the New Mexico Farmers Marketing Association (NMFMA). I am reaching out to discuss a potential partnership between our program and your esteemed libraries aimed at fostering awareness about the benefits of locally grown produce and the Double Up Food Bucks program. This year, NMFMA has produced a comprehensive Local Food Guide, showcasing the abundance of fresh, locally sourced agricultural products available right here in New Mexico. The guide not only provides valuable insights into local food options but also offers essential information on how to utilize and multiply SNAP benefits, with Double Up Food Bucks, when purchasing New Mexico-grown produce. You can view a digital version of the guide by clicking here: Digital Local Food Guide. The NMFMA would be delighted to supply your library with free copies of this guide for distribution to your library visitors, thereby extending our mission to your community. To request a box of 100 free Local Food Guides, kindly reply to andrea at farmersmarketsnm.org with the following details: 1. The name and address of your library 2. The name and contact information of the appropriate staff member at your branch I've also attached some info and resources about Double Up Food Bucks and how to use SNAP benefits at farmers' markets along with a NM Seasonal Harvest Calendar. Let's chat and brainstorm ways we can help our fellow New Mexicans explore the world of local food and make the most of this fantastic program. I look forward to hearing from you! The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) is a $3 billion program, from President Biden?s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, to support Tribal governments bringing high-speed Internet to Tribal lands, including telehealth, distance learning, affordability, and digital inclusion initiatives. The program seeks to improve quality of life, spur economic development, and create opportunities for remote employment, online entrepreneurship, remote learning, and telehealth by expanding broadband access and by providing digital training and inclusion programs to Native American communities. Pueblo of Pojoaque was awarded the NM Broadband Infrastructure Deployment in the amount of $500,000.00. This Broadband Infrastructure Deployment project will provide affordable, reliable, high-speed Internet service via fiber to 75 tribal households. Jenelle Roybal, Pueblo of Pojoaque, Governor stated, "We are happy to receive this award and it will go a long way towards providing high-speed Internet to our Tribal members. Reliable, high-speed Internet is no longer a wishlist item. It has become a staple utility along with electricity and water. Our children depend on it for their education, our elders depend on it for online medical visits, our businesses depend on it to survive and grow, and our remote workers depend on it for a paycheck. This grant provides a tremendous boost in completing our broadband projects." Read the full press release at Internet for All. The Federal Communications Commission released a Public Notice announcing the opening of an application filing window for new Low Power FM (LPFM) radio stations. This upcoming filing window provides Tribes, among others, the opportunity to apply for a new LPFM station that can cover a localized service area in need of radio service. The Public Notice provides an overview of the application procedures, filing requirements, and comparative selection process that will apply to the upcoming filing window for LPFM new station construction permits. A construction permit is required before an applicant is allowed to construct an LPFM station and a license is required before operation of an LPFM station can begin. This will be the first LPFM filing window since 2013. Potential applicants should carefully review the application procedures and filing requirements in the Public Notice. The FCC will accept LPFM applications for the entire FM band (channels 201-300) during the filing window, which opens at 12:01am ET on November 1, 2023, and closes at 6:00 pm ET on November 8, 2023. Applicants must file their applications electronically through the FCC Media Bureau?s Licensing and Management System. RESOURCES OBAE Surveys Seek Insight about ?
