Hi Everyone,

The second lecture in the Here, Now and Always Native Narratives speaker series at Museum of Indian Arts & Culture takes place on Thursday, November 9 with a great lineup of events to celebrate veterans including a posting of the flags by the Diné Sáanii Siláołtsooí Color Guard.

Over the next several months MIAC will host Native Narratives on some of the topics within Here, Now and Always: Cycles, Ancestors, Home and Community, Trade and Exchange, Language and Song, Art, and Survival and Resilience.

WHAT: Here, Now and Always Native Narratives Speaker Series.

WHO: Diné Sáanii Siláołtsooí Color Guard, Helena Barney Anthony, US Marine Corps; Elciena Baker, US Navy/US Army; Natasha Nelson, US Air Force; Tina Yazzie, US Army; and Angela Barney Nez, US Army.

WHERE: Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, 710 Camino Lejo Santa Fe, NM.

WHEN: Thursday, November 9, from 10:30 – 1 p.m.

10:30 a.m. Posting of the Flags by the all-women Diné Sáanii Siláołtsooí Color Guard on Milner Plaza.

11:00 a.m. Panel Discussion with Helena Barney Anthony, US Marine Corps; Elciena Baker, US Navy/US Army; Natasha Nelson, US Air Force; Tina Yazzie, US Army; and Angela Barney Nez, US Army, Kathryn O’Keeffe Theatre.

Noon Lunch in honor of our Veterans, provided by the Feasting Place, Norma Naranjo, US Navy, Meem Auditorium.

Continuously running throughout the afternoon. (1 hour duration)

Canes of Power, a NM PBS film, tell the story of Abraham Lincoln’s historic decision to grant tribal sovereignty of each of New Mexico’s 19 Pueblos.

WHY: Celebrate Indigenous veterans and the lasting contributions they’ve made to the US Armed Forces.
