Untold Pueblo Stories: Hidden Histories and the Pueblo Diaspora

Diego Medina (Tiwa-Piro-Manso), Albert Alvidrez (Ysleta del Sur), and Jerry Dunbar (Ysleta del Sur)

Diego Medina, Albert Alvidrez, and Jerry Dunbar highlight underrepresented Pueblo stories in an exploration of the Ysleta del Sur and Tiwa-Piro-Manso histories. The panel discusses the effects of displacement on Pueblo communities and the larger Pueblo diaspora.

Pre-registration for this event is closed. We have reserved a block of seats for walk-ins on a first- come, first-served basis.

This event is free with museum admission.

Member Trip to Glorieta Pass and Pecos National Historical Park

Unbeknownst to many, New Mexico’s 1862 Battle of Glorieta Pass was the site of a decisive Civil War victory for the Union. Explore Early American West history and New Mexico’s role in the Civil War with a visit to Casa Escuela, a private historical firearms museum in the village of Glorieta, and a guided tour of the Pecos National Historical Park complete with a picnic lunch.

They address some of the usual suspects of New Mexico women’s history—Georgia O’Keeffe, Maria Martinez, Nina Otero-Warren—and how their stories may help us to uncover those of lesser-known women whose life histories have been lost.
