WHAT: Tribal Broadband Convening 2: Digital Equity and Inclusion

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Tribal leaders, tribal broadband teams, tribal librarians and tribal education directors.

WHY: Learn more about the federal Digital Equity program and Digital Equity Planning process, for both tribes and New Mexico, including info on the application window, the timeline for release of Digital Equity planning funds, the required components of a Digital Equity Plan, and allowable activities to pursue with the Digital Equity planning funds.

Background

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law created the Digital Equity Act, which provides $2.75 billion to establish THREE grant programs that promote digital equity and inclusion. The Digital Equity Planning Grant Program is a $60 million formula grant program for states, territories, and tribal governments to develop digital equity plans. There is a five percent set-aside from this program to benefit tribal entities. NTIA received 468 Letters of Intent from tribal entities to this grant program, requesting planning funds to create digital equity plans. After one year of planning, NTIA will open the Digital Equity Capacity Program to offer funding to implement digital equity plans. For more information on the Digital Equity Planning Grant Program, please visit Internet for All<https://www.internetforall.gov/program/digital-equity-act-programs>.

The event is free; however, pre-registration is required to receive the zoom link: Pre-register here<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fus06web.zoom.us%2Fmeeting%2Fregister%2FtZMsf--hqT8pGd1l2_-CVE8RvyW2qHz9uQh5&data=05%7C01%7C%7Cf77b4a7291cb477ce67a08daac6a5db9%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638011870080709315%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=1Y7wcTBD8umFHqJD9B544KV75E2S2C4LnF%2F4Hl8v4R8%3D&reserved=0>.
