"My library's not a non-profit." If you have a Friends Group, Foundation, etc. associated with you, then they can qualify and use the ads to promote you. And, of course, several NM public libraries ARE 501(c)3 organizations. Check out library-specific information on this Webjunction page: https://www.webjunction.org/news/webjunction/google-adwords-for-libraries.html ?And then visit Google for all the current information on the grant program: https://www.google.com/grants/ ??Regards, Dale Dale Savage Library development Bureau Chief New Mexico State Library ________________________________ From: Guinnee, Eli, DCA Sent: Monday, April 13, 2020 1:14 PM To: Schaefer, Amy K, DCA Cc: Savage, Dale, DCA Subject: RE: Google Word Ads Thanks! We've worked to break down the most common questions about these payments. A few key things to know: * For most people, you won't have to do anything - the payment will be directly deposited into your bank account or sent to you by check. Be aware, however, that if it's sent by check, it might take a little longer. * Read the blog for details if you are not typically required to file taxes. * The IRS urges anyone with a tax filing obligation who has not yet filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 to file as soon as they can to receive an economic impact payment. Taxpayers should include direct deposit banking information on the return. Keep in mind that the IRS has extended the deadline for filing your 2019 taxes until July 15, 2020, and you'll have until the end of 2020 to claim your money. * The IRS has a separate online application, "Get My Payment," which allows you, if you filed your tax return in 2018 or 2019 but did not provide your banking information on your return, to submit direct deposit information so that you can receive payments immediately, as opposed to checks in the mail. "Get My Payment" will also allow you to track the status of your payment Keep reading our blog for more in-depth answers ________________________________ The latest from the CFPB * Build your kids' money skills while they're home from school Money games and activities for children while they're home from school because of Covid-19 (coronavirus). * Financial help for servicemembers affected by the coronavirus Although active duty servicemembers continue to receive their pay, some military families face financial strain due to the coronavirus. Our State Librarian, Eli Guinnee, will be with us to kick off a conversation about what library policies we might want to revise as we look toward reopening. I've copied a couple of paragraphs from the Apart Together Newsletter that he sent out this morning to give you an idea of where the discussion will start. Many of you have turned your attention to planning for re-opening. Not that reopening is necessarily imminent, but there's a lot to plan for: What furniture needs to be moved to provide for social distancing? How can computers be distributed throughout the library? Will we re-open in stages or all at once? Do we need a sneeze guard at the circ desk? Should we limit the number of people in the library? What policies do we need to revise? On Thursday, during the daily noon Drop-In hosted by our Library Development Bureau, we'll be focusing on one piece of this: library policies. I'll bring a list of the policies I think libraries may need to revise, and I hope you will to. If you have time, take a look at your policies and note any that might need revision before you re-open. Together we can hopefully come up with a pretty good list (which I'll share here next week!). So think about what you might need or want to change when we reopen and come join us! The last couple of days we've talked a lot about reopening guidelines and issues in response to Grants Public Library being pressed to open next week. Come join us at noon to hang out, talk with other librarians about whatever is on your mind, and see what others are thinking about. I also wanted to give everyone a heads up that Eli will be joining us tomorrow for a discussion of reopening issues. I'll send out a separate reminder on that a little later. I hope to see you at noon! Dale ========================= Dale Savage - NMSL is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Please come ready to offer your questions, thoughts, and plans for how you can manage reopening your library and reestablishing services in a safe, effective manner. As food for thought, I've included links to a couple of short articles, a libguide from the Missouri State Library, and ALA's Pandemic Preparedness page. I've also attached a draft of a phased reopening plan for the State Library's Public Services Bureau developed by Lori Thornton and Laura Caldarone. https://americanlibrariesmagazine.org/blogs/the-scoop/covid-19-reopening-libraries-not-when-but-how/ https://medium.com/@john.alan.thill/a-phased-reopening-plan-for-libraries-as-covid-19-restrictions-are-lifted-2d96885c0c1d https://mostate.libguides.com/ld.php?content_id=54238284 http://www.ala.org/tools/atoz/pandemic-preparedness ?I hope to see you at noon tomorrow!
