Hello Tribal Library Directors,

It has come to my attention that there is contradictory information in the TLP Application material that I sent out last week.  Under the heading Review of Applications, please delete the highlighted sentence (To be eligible for review, grant applications must be postmarked or emailed by December 31, 2019.  Only complete application forms from eligible institutions will be reviewed).
Please follow the timetable that appears a few paragraphs below the deletion:



Grant Program Timeline



October 1, 2019                      Applications sent out.



November 1, 2019                  Applications due (postmark date, hand-delivered or emailed

                                                    by 5 PM; Requests for waiver or variance due.



December 1, 2019                   Grant awards announcement.

May 15, 2020                            Ending date of grant period; all funds must be encumbered. (i.e. You must spend every last cent of your TLP award).



   Final invoices and payment requests due to State Library for

 Reimbursement.



June 30, 2020                             Final financial reporting to be submitted as part of the FY20 Annual reports (July 1, 2020 - mid-August, 2020).

Good Morning, Tribal Library Directors,
If you have heard about this film, but haven't had an opportunity to see it yet, it will be shown on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Santa Fe Indian Center (Located in the Center for Progress and Justice with large bold letters that say 1420 across the front of the building, it is on Cerrillos across the street from SF Indian School.) The film will begin at 6:00pm.  As an added bonus the film features our own Jeannie Whitehorse.  Please consider attending - it is sure to be an interesting and powerful movie. SFIC Lecture Series Continues
Oct. 22nd, 6pm at 1420 Cerrillos Road - Santa Fe Indian Center presents Ama,' a powerful documentary film by Lorna Tucker that exposes the forced sterilization of thousands of Native American women by the US Government. The film includes testimonies from women and a revealing interview with the doctor whose population control ideas formed some of these government policies. Guest speakers include Pam Kingfisher, Cherokee.

Yesterday I attended an open house at IAIA (Institute of American Indian Art) and took away two things that I want to pass onto you all.  First there was a book sale, so I couldn't resist snapping up 13 titles that I am happy to pass along to you and your libraries:

The other exciting news that I found out at IAIA is that they will be offering courses in Archives and Oral Histories.  Most of the classwork can be done online, so it would require only one or two trip to Santa Fe / IAIA.  The person behind this new development is Ryan Flahive, Archivist/Library, (505) 424-2392, rflahive at iaia.edu<mailto:rflahive at iaia.edu>.  I will follow up on this and provide you with more information as it becomes available.

They all sound great.  Unfortunately, I wish I had the time to read up on them to obtain more information.  If no one has claimed, I would like the "Lasting Echos, An Oral History of Native American People" for the Library.

Hello Tribal Library Directors,
In an effort to compile as complete a timeline as possible, we would like to add the dates that each Tribal Library came into existence.  If you know when your Tribal Library first opened its doors, please send me the information.  If you don't know, please let me know that too.  I will see what I can find in the Tribal Library files.
