Hello Tribal Librarians,
I wanted to let you know that the film "Ama" (a documentary that tells an important and untold story: the abuses committed against Native American women by the U.S. Government during the 1960s and 70s, removed from their families and sent to boarding schools, forced relocation away from their traditional lands and involuntary sterilization) is being shown at the El Morro Theater on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 7:00pm. The film features our own Jeannie Whitehorse who will be in attendance for the showing. The screening is free and open to the public and is being sponsored by the Octavia Fellin Public Library in Gallup, NM. Just wanted to let you know about this opportunity to learn more about the true history of the relationship between Natives and the Federal Government. If you have any questions regarding this screening, please don't hesitate to contact me or Jeannie directly (jeannie.whitehorse at state.nm.us). Thank you.
Best wishes,
Faye
