The package for Tribal Libraries, 25m including fiber optics, internet access, E-Rate matching funds etc., for an additional @8m, is part of the Yazzie/Martinez Remedy Framework endorsed by a broad Coalition referred to as Transform Education New Mexico. Legislators are working negotiating to have this included in the Yazzie/Martinez Remedy framework. We can try to meet @8:30. Perhaps one of the representatives can provide an overview of the long effort in the development of this plan to invest resources to strengthen tribal libraries as a critical part of the infrastructure to address the education needs of children and how tribal libraries can be the center of student support services. Tribal Libraries in light of Yazzie has now become of even greater importance to our tribal communities to meet the findings for "extended school services, after school, summer school activities. Tribal libraries can be the conduit for these support services with potential pass through dollars for program support to be contracted with tribes and pueblos. Native language programs is also a major finding and the potential for tribal libraries becoming an important conduit for language classes and a resource is also a huge opportunity. I look forward to seeing as many of you. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
