From Bradley.Carrington at state.nm.us Tue Jul 5 11:51:49 2022 From: Bradley.Carrington at state.nm.us (Carrington, Bradley, DCA) Date: Tue, 5 Jul 2022 17:51:49 +0000 Subject: [Nmsalsa] Symphony freeze on bib records starting Thursday Message-ID: Hello Symphony musicians, The last phase of our migration is the dedup work on our bib records. There will be a "freeze" on most all bib work from Thursday July 7-Saturday July 16. Starting the day after tomorrow. The bib freeze does not affect any circulation functions. It's a "partial freeze." You can add items to existing bibs. You can edit existing bibs. But do not delete any bibs or cause any bibs to be replaced (via SmartPort, bibload reports or MARC Listener imports). During the freeze we can't do anything that might change the title control number. We could add bibs if we are 100% sure that the loading won't cause a replace. So, during the freeze, ask Joseph or me if you need to add a bib and we can help with that. Please alert your staff and volunteers about the partial freeze to bib work. To make our Symphony database we brought in bibs from five different databases and that introduced a good number of duplicate records (over 10,000). We'll be in great shape after this final phase of our migration. Thanks for your patience during our long, involved migration project! I am open to meeting in any format, although zoom would probably be the easiest for me to schedule as I am currently in the process of hiring for several different positions (including librarian ?). Thanks again and all the very best, Carson Carson E. I can meet any way--as long as it's after this weekend :) Jennifer On Tue, Jul 26, 2022 at 2:55 PM Carrington, Bradley, DCA > wrote: Hello SALSA people, Let us meet. The Executive Committee is supposed to meet twice a year. Oh dear, I'm behind! We last met Jan. 21, 2021. Here is a link to the draft of the minutes. What a year-and-a-half since then: all this RFP and Symphony work! https://www.nmstatelibrary.org/images/SALSA%20meeting%20January%2019%20draft%20minutes.pdf And here are links to our MOU and our Bylaws https://www.nmstatelibrary.org/docs/TSB/SALSA_MOU.pdf https://www.nmstatelibrary.org/docs/TSB/BYLAWS_of_The_SALSA_Consortium_New_Mexico_State_Library.pdf (Brian, you can print the MOU and sign it; you can get other signatures, too, if you'd like; please return signed version to me; thanks!) I'm including Jennifer Berkley, director of the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, whose library is our newest SALSA member! Welcome! Joseph imported their LibraryThing records and started their Enterprise profile: https://newm.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/sca And I'm including Carson Morris, the new director of HLA at NHCC. NHCC doesn't yet have its librarian, as far as I know, but Carson is welcome to attend our SALSA meeting. First a quick poll: * Choice one: meet on Zoom * Choice two: meet at NMSL * Choice three: hybrid Zoom/NMSL So, let me know your preference for meeting format. Then I?ll send out a Doodle for picking the date/time. Thank you, Happy Summer, and go to Spanish Market ?
